This guidebook provides information on 30 short walks (3-4 hours in duration) around Postojna and the Slovenian Green Karst region. This area is characterised by green hills, mountains, extensive forest, rivers, lakes, caves, karst formations, castles and pretty villages. The book includes detailed information on walk starting and finishing points, distance covered, difficulty, terrain, things to see, public transport access, navigation, and detailed route notes with colour maps.

The book is intended to provide an introduction to bushwalking in Australia for those new to the activity ("new chums"). It's aim is to be a concise guide for beginners. There are a number of matters that those new to bushwalking need to know concerning skills, fitness; where to walk; clothing and equipment; navigation; safety, hazards, and environmental impacts. This book attempts to be a resource for novice walkers that brings all the available information together. It is not meant to be a step-by-step guide to bushwalking but a pointer to the available resources for prospective bushwalkers. The author has over 30 years experience walking in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and Nepal.
