Santa shook his head in disbelief, how in the world could he have gotten himself into this mess? He should have been heading back to the North Pole by now. However, he wasn't sure he could even return to the North Pole. Oh my, what on earth was he going to do?

Danny, may have been pretending to use his tablet, but he really was thinking about what his dad had said while practicing his speech in the car, "If humans had never asked questions we would still be living in caves. It takes smart people to solve our problems and smart people get smarter by seeking information from smarter people and that is why we are here today "Danny jumped up from his chair. His Dad was right, Danny was struggling with reading, and he knew he needed help, he needed to talk to the smartest person he knew. He needed to talk to . . .Grammy Danny, kind of groaned, he knew his ABC's. Grammy replied yes, Danny did know his alphabet, but did he know how just 26 letters could create more the than 140,000 words that were currently being used in our English vocabulary? Did he know that six of those letters were, like the big shots of the show, because at least one of them had to appear in every one of those words? Learning to read was like chipping away at a giant iceberg. Recognizing the letters and reciting them in order only chipped away a tiny sliver However if he knew how to figure out words he could knock off a very big chunk and that would help him read. Grammy had one more question. Could Danny tell her what the most important word he needed to know in any story? Danny said of course, he could not, no one could, not even a genius Grammy laughed and made a very loud buzzing sound to let Danny know, his answer was wrong The most important word to know . . . is the next one And if he learned how to figure out words, he would never have to worry about his ability to read a book After all books are just words strung together to make sentences, sentences are strung together to make paragraphs that are strung together to tell a story and Grammy had a story she was about to share

Climb aboard the bus and share Viola's best bad day to discover just how much difference a day can make For the very first time, Viola did not have a friend sharing the seat on the bus ride to school. Yesterday was filled with disappointments. Why did friends have to move away and why did her parents have to ask some mean old man permission to spend their own money? They were grown-ups, not children. When she grew up she would not ask anyone, if she wanted to take a trip she would just go. At least things couldn't get any worse. Well . . ? Viola finds out what a difference a day can make and that things are never as bad as they may seem. One day things are not looking so good for Viola, it's almost summer and her best friend has moved away. Hearing her mom and dad in the kitchen talking about money, the broken tractor, how Mr. Budget is cranky, and she may not get to go on vacation. The next day her lonely bus ride becomes a complete round-up. Arriving at school late things really get interesting and Viola's life will never be the same. Can Captain No-Sorrow save Viola's day and possibly her vacation? From Chapter 1: Viola was very grumpy as she crawled into bed, she didn't even ask to read a book she just wanted to go to sleep instead. In Montana when you can't sleep you count cattle you don't count sheep and this may sound really absurd by morning Viola had counted an entire herd
