"I've wanted you for such a long time... Since it all began to fall apart. I don't care about any of it. My life. Them out there. Only you. I only ever think about you now."An obscure horror film called The Black Remote; a demon hungering for lost souls beneath a dilapidated church; a lovesick vampire slayer; sinister cults and scheming cultists; troubled families and weird and terrifying pilgrimages to the roadside chapels and battlefields of France. You will find these things and more in NIGHT IN OUR VEINS - a short story collection written by dark fantasy and horror author Paul Edwards.Exhumed from the pages of small press zines and anthologies, these sixteen twisted tales represent Edwards' best work to date.
Paul Edwards is a beautiful writer. He can express the moods and emotions of a day as well as anyone. And his love for the game – and those involved in it – pours off every page of this book. But because he has interests far beyond the boundary – in politics and people, in music and history – he is as likely to quote Mott the Hoople as Herman Melville; as likely to cite the repeal of the corn laws as regulations regarding Kolpak registrations. His work is all the richer and more satisfying for it. He knows that not everything that counts can be counted. He knows you can’t define love or loyalty or a million things in between. So he tells us how a day’s play feels. He tells us about the people and places. He tells us why it matters but knows it doesn’t matter too much.
In the summer of 1988 twenty-two year old John Bostock, better known as 'Boss', returns to Liverpool from his travels with many tales to tell to friends Carl and Legger. Boss has spent four months in the U.S.A. courtesy of the 'Camp America' programme. He has gained great life experience. The greatest experience of all proves to be his encounter with Annie Haier, a young, Jewish American and fellow counsellor. The relationship begins as a friendship but develops into a deep and passionate love affair. The couple decide to plan their future together despite the natural barrier of the Atlantic Ocean. In April 1989 Boss and Legger attend the semi-final of the F.A. cup at Hillsborough. Like thousands of others they have a traumatic experience. Life is never the same again. Boss eventually suffers from P.T.S.D. and opts for counselling at the Hillsborough Centre in Liverpool. He meets fellow survivors who are racked with guilt and full of anger and begins the long climb back to happiness. In June 1990 Boss returns to the U.S.A. where it all began, to seek an emotional reunion with Annie, the love of his life.

"Heart-stopping horror...Paul Edwards is a startling new voice in fear fiction, and in Infernal Love he conjures an imaginative, mood-drenched and genuinely frightening supernatural shocker." - Dante Tomaselli, director of Desecration, Satan's Playground and Torture Chamber. "Paul Edwards's novella Infernal Love is a literary love letter to 1960s and 70s occult horror, a deliciously twisted East European nightmare full of demonic births, apocalyptic portents and the occult... In many ways this is a blood-spattered homage to both Ira Levin and Lucio Fulci, yet Edwards makes this tale his own, delivering a fast-paced, tightly written satanic chiller smartly eschewing the clich s of the tradition, while admirably succeeding in giving us those old school thrills we all secretly crave. Highly recommended." - Frank Duffy, author of The Signal Block and Other Tales, Mountains of Smoke and Unknown Causes. "Infernal Love is a dark and enticing novella convincingly telling of diabolism while containing all the visual imagery and feel of a sixties monochrome horror movie... Every character, whether they be a holy man or a deviant in Satan's employ, is skilfully drawn and entirely believable. If your penchant is for demonic possession, devil worship, bleak churchyards, dark mirrors and diabolic entities...then this is the book for you. There are few novellas I've found so gripping that I've had to read them till the end in one sitting, but Infernal Love is one." - John B. Ford, author of The Evil Entwines. "Fast paced and tightly written, Infernal Love could be the novelisation of the greatest 70s shocker movie Fulci never made. A delirious satanic chiller, featuring demons, bloody deaths, dark mirrors, tormented priests and an evil child, this will appeal to those who love their horror bloodthirsty and old-school. I highly recommend it." - Mark West, author of Drive, The Mill and Conjure.
What is the standard that God requires in order to be acceptable to Him? The answer is the "gospel," the New Covenant of God's unmerited favor. Through the Lord Jesus finished work at Calvary, believers have been restored to a place of favor with God. No longer servants-but sons and daughters of King Jesus. For many believers, the New Covenant really is something new. The great tragedy is that most people know exactly what the Ten Commandments are. Failure to divide the Old Covenant from the New creates a crippling concoction of confusion and condemnation. The revelation of grace that is found in the Lord Jesus and His finished work at the cross liberates believers from the tyranny of the law and its impossible demand for righteousness. In this book you will discover "who" righteousness is and who believers have become by believing the good news. Learn to interpret scripture in the light of the New Covenant. Understand the purpose of the Law and its place in the believer's life when scripture is understood in context. And most of all have your eyes opened to the Lord Jesus the lover of your soul and mediator of the New Covenant.
