Constance is a headstrong, rebellious child. Her father made himself King over his elder brother but did not rule. He preferred pleasure and games and ignored the Princess. Daniel, his elder brother, even with a bounty on his head, returns after finding Constance playing in the woods, hiding from those who were sent to find her. While he openly holds Constance as hostage, he demands justice. Thus, begins a long relationship between the young Princess and her uncle as he disciplines and teaches her righteousness and obedience in preparation when she will inherit the crown and be the ruling monarch.
