These poems describe individual lives, how people feel, think, and act, and what drives them to do so. Most poems are short, as a key is short, compared to the door it opens. Some are mirrors, that ask you to reflect. Although many poems are in the first person, most of them are about other people, occasionally real, often imagined. They are about me only in the sense that I am human, and incorporate all human qualities, overt or suppressed. The love songs are for all those I have loved, or would have loved had I known them. You may take them personally.

Philip is a retired pediatrician who lives and practices idleness in the City of Angels. He has published one previous book of poetry, The Mirror, which was received with no small acclaim. (No great acclaim, either.) A reading at a meeting of psychologists was followed by five minutes of utter silence. He prefers lyric, formal verse, describing emotions and human foibles; with occasional fits of humor. Disclaimer: Some poems may be depressing. Philip assumes no responsibility for untoward consequences suffered by the reader. The book is considered safe for children who do not have access to an unabridged dictionary.

The Mirror, by Philip Danufsky. Since his retirement in 2011 from the practice and teaching of pediatric endocrinology, Philip has suffered severe, unremitting attacks of poetry, which have limited his participation in useful endeavors. He occupies his time with spasmodic and unprofitable attempts to learn the Irish bodhran and the Arabic language
