Everyone, both young or old wants to know what is right and wrong and why. Because of the societal attacks on the authority and integrity of the Word of God, most young people are not willing to accept the Bible as the basis for their moral beliefs. This is precisely why we have so many problems today. It should not be a mystery as to why so many people today commit mass shootings, murder, rape, theft and display unkindness to other people. Only by the authority of the Bible can we answer these and other important questions.

When defending the faith, it is not sufficient to merely go after a few surface issues. The real battle goes much deeper. The defender of the historic Christian faith must blast deep into the foundations of the enemy's worldview by exposing and destroying his presuppositions. The battle for truth cannot be won apart from destroying the false presuppositions held by those who reject the gospel.

Today's Christians face uncertain times and anti-religious pressures. This book focuses on Christians from Caithness and the nearby Sutherland community of Strathy who lived in times of great social and religious upheavals. Their stories span the time from the Highland Clearances to the mid-twentieth century. The lives of these believers were closely scrutinised as they endeavoured to be faithful to their Lord in the workplace, community and family. The book tells us about their lives and soul experiences, and shows how the Lord sustained them in their faithful profession of Christianity. These accounts should encourage Christians to live like these godly people - in dependence on God and in faithfulness to his commands.
