The Education of Anthony Bryant tells the story of an eighteen-year-old who makes a tragic mistake and is given a thirty year to life sentence, after serving as the getaway driver in a robbery resulting in a store owner's death. The diaries, two, were written after each mission by Sgt. Jackson. Sgt Jackson used clippings from a military paper covering the mission of many brave men that flew in the B-17's from England, which included him. In many of the missions, he included what they are before they left on their missions. In reading, you get wrapped up in the mission, and can almost feel you are with him.

Originally published in 1989, Robert Jackson’s outstanding book revealed a whole area of wartime experience which had been neglected. It was the first book of its kind to cover all aspects of the years behind the wire in Prisoner of War (POW) camps during the First World War. The author drew extensively on unpublished personal narratives from the archives of the Imperial War Museum to provide a broad cross-section of life in the POW camps. He also dealt with the work of the Red Cross, internment in neutral countries, treatment of prisoners immediately after capture and escapes.
