A collection of previously published and first time published stories from one of the dark horses in Australian literature. Robert has been a literary agent, representing Christy Jordan Fenton and Tony Shillitoe, he is still a publisher having published books by Jack McDevitt, David Brin, Sean Williams, Sophia Mason, Kate Forsyth and Lyn McConchie. As a writer, he has won awards and been recocognised for his work with new writers through online college courses. The Mess in My Head is book 2 of Imperfections and coveres a period of time that had mixed reviews.
The largest of the Imperfections series at over 250 000 words this looks at all the imperfect stories written between 1996 - 2003 during one of the authors craziest creation phases. Here you will find stories, poems and even some insights. This isn't a book to wow you as a reader, but to show you the journey from a beginning writer to one who has grown more confident in his craft. Where The Clever Nature of Wool collection showed the absolute best, this collection can show you those stories that missed the mark for what ever reason back in the day
Most of these stories were written during serious depression months over the course of Robert's career. He is by no means free of his mental health issues but these stories indicate when he was venturing into strange thoughts and strange worlds. A book one of the Imperfections series it is a little less imperfect than the others. This isn't a book to wow you with artistry, but more a book to sit back and think about what could have been if the medication worked better.
To An Untrained Mind is a collection of short stories, poems and articles by Robert N Stephenson. These are works written over a 20 year period and have never before been seen, or published. These are imperfect appearances, there are faults with them all, from spellings to typos, from accidents in science and the limitations of knowledge. This book was not created to wow the reader with its prowess but more created to warehouse decades of material. If you have a copy, then you do indeed have a rare bird. Like the old Saab's Robert loves to own and drive, this book is also limited.Severe mental illness has distorted some visions and limited some expressions but never let you be controlled by such conditions, rather take control of them and thrive. The cover for this volume of imperfections is by the incomparable Conny Valentina and inside the image is another story.Rejoice in discovery, and forgive in measure.
This collection of short stories captures a time when the author was at his worst with clinical depression (bipolar) and the medication levels were not quite right. All of these stories display more a state of mind rather than any visionary insights into the conditions and how the author dealt with problems arising from the illness. The interesting thing would be what was being imagined at a time when the mind wasn't working in a positive or even productive fashion. It isn't impossible to write fictions when your mind is in crash mode, but it is difficult. This collection features strange stories, mad stories, visions that are macabre and insights that are touching.500 000 words were written in the short story format and while some are available in other collections, all these are unique to this collection. The Mess in My Head is a journey and one that unexpectedly delivers on its promise. To be strange.
A strange collection of short stories covering the developmental years of the author. These are the previously unpublished stories that show his internal struggles with writing, living with bipolar and trying to understand the world through the lens of a writer.
A collection of published works by Robert N Stephenson including the title story and the Aurealis award-winning The Rains of La Strange - THe Hardcover Edition has two extra stories at the end - a bonus for spending extra.

From Egypt to Germany these stories have come and in their union, they hope to deliver a wider world view than stories just from one nationality and nation. The editor, Robert N Stephenson, is an award-winning author who believes the world can be better served by bringing our creative expressions together and an opportunity for different voices was created. You will find stories about pirates on the high seas, aliens who just don't get along, a vampire with social issues and a town lost to the promises of a technology no one understands. Only here will you see the stories from Argentina and Romania together, where Italy shares the stage with Russia and where the dominant voices are not those of the USA, but The Netherlands. It is a small world after all. Altair Australia Pty Ltd is endeavouring to spread these different voices across the globe and to show readers there is more out there if you just know the author's names, and have experienced some of their writing. Without the critical feature of needing to make money, this anthology is kept as close to cost price as possible in all formats so readers can easily access the material. Share your books, point readers this way and in turn become part of this project's endeavours - to unite the world with words.
