Living in the Now, he no longer dreads encountering Carter--and this changes everything.Milton's Secret will not only appeal to the millions of adult readers of Tolle's other books, but also to any parent who wants to introduce their children to the core of Tolle's teachings: Living in the Now is the quickest path to ending fear and suffering.
First Published in 2000. Throughout the nineteenth century, the study of geometry remained at the core of educational curricula in the United States, strongly affecting how educated Americans construed their world. This book examines how each of Nathaniel Hawthorne's romances presents a different geometric figure that becomes representative of the work's themes and narrative designs. These geometric figures, when approached from the perspective of Victor Turner's symbolic anthropology, server as cultural mediators, combining geometric symbology with a unique narrative perspective to offer metaphors of personal and cultural boundaries, Freidman presents the literary text as the point of intersection among such disciplines as cultural anthropology, history, mathematics and American literature.
Revision with unchanged content. What are the benefits of fostering one of the most significant pedagogical shifts in recent decades -- from practices and heuristics based in instructivist and behaviorist theory to constructivist concepts and approaches, particularly as they take form in the activities comprising problem-based learning? How have multimedia technologies affected this shift? What are the advantages of transforming, through multimedia technologies, how information is imparted, how individuals discover information, and how a classroom can become an active, engaging learning environment? This study discusses three related concepts: the benefits of problem-based collaborative learning; the value of using multimedia tools in learning systems; and the efficacy of participatory design as a software engineering methodology to create multimedia tools to be used in learning systems. This book may be of interest to educators who use technology to implement and enhance their curricula, as well as education technology theorists and researchers.
