"Where the West Began" - Seven Classic Tales! "Western Classics" features an adaptation of Zane Grey's grand western prototype, "Riders of the Purple Sage", illustrated by Cynthia Martin. It includes stories by Bret Harte, Willa Cather, Gertrude Atherton, and John G. Neihardt, with art and adaptations by Trina Robbins, John Findley, Mark A. Featured are Nathaniel Hawthorne's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow", Arthur Conan Doyle's mummy tale "Lot No. 249", Mark Twain's "A Curious Dream", and H.P. Lovecraft's "Cool Air". Poe's Tales of Mystery features a new full-color comics adaptation of Poe's seminal detective story "The Murders in the Rue Morgue". Also "The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar", "The Man of the Crowd", "MS Found in a Bottle" and nine more stories and poems by the creator of the mystery genre. Artists include Michael Manning, Reno Maniquis, Brad Teare, Nelson Evergreen and Lisa K. Weber.

"Graphic Classics: Louisa May Alcott" features "Little Women", adapted for comics by Trina Robbins and illustrated by Anne Timmons. Plus lesser-known gothic mysteries and horror stories including "A Whisper in the Dark" by Antonella Caputo and Arnold Arre, "The Rival Prima Donnas" by Rod Lott and Molly Crabapple, and "Lost in a Pyramid" by Alex Burrows and Pedro Lopez. It also features two poems and two strange children's stories, "Buzz" and "The Piggy Girl", illustrated by Mary Fleener, Shary Flenniken, Toni Pawlowsky and Lisa K. Weber.

"Graphic Classics: Ambrose Bierce" is revised, with 70 new pages, including new comics adaptations of "Moxon's Master", "The Damned Thing" and "The Monk and the Hangman's Daughter". Gothic Classics presents Ann Radcliffe's archetypal gothic novel "The Mysteries of Udopho", adapted by Antonella Caputo and Carlo Vergara.
