The Ice Age imperative that we have gleamed from the diminishing Sun may be one of the biggest drivers that we have to inspire us to work together as a single humanity, to create a New World for us, thus to lay aside the small-minded terrors that presently darken our existence and our future, such as the nuclear weapons threats, imperial wars, economic collapse, political insanity, and so on. Yes, we have the potential to build us a bright future as we discover evermore of the already near Ice Age that is poised to grip our world. The more we allow the Sun to present its case, we will find us inspired to move with it, not in ignorance of it. And why shouldn't we move with it? The principles of the solar system lay before us for the grasping. Our response then follows naturally. Universal good, as a concept, is already on the agenda in China with the Belt and Road initiative. It is also on the agenda in the form of the call by Russia for a new world-security architecture that can actually work. The 'rush' for meeting the common aims of mankind appears to have begun, and its beginning appears to be on track with the astrophysical 'rush' to the next Ice Age that we cannot evade but can raise ourselves above with building us a New World that the Ice Age dynamics cannot touch. So it is, that what seemed hopeless just a few years ago, is amazingly now sweeping the world, sweeping it clean of archaic myths and modes, sweeping in truthful perceptions from numerous directions at once, even to the point of letting the Sun speak for itself, thus building us up into the direction that is raising evermore people out of their easy chair, into action. This exploration presented here is a part of the unfolding movement towards the inevitable universal good.

This book was a long-standing idea that was finally realized as a part of the Kaleidoscope Books project. It draws into focus 8 of the most critical aspects of my novel, Lu Mountain, the completing volume of my 12-volume series "The Lodging for the Rose." The series had been intended as a high-level exploration of how it became possible for leading edge nations with advanced cultural development to be drawn into the trap of fascism, looting, war, brutality, to the point that several of them have amassed the physical capability to eradicate humanity from of the face of the Earth with nuclear war, while an ever greater challenge, the Ice Age Challenge looms on the near horizon, that the science community has been taught to ignore and in some cases actively hide. And more than that, the series had been intended to explore the fundamental principle that can raise humanity out of its trap. This fundamental principle appears to be the Principle of Universal Love, an all-embracing love for the humanity that we all share and are a part of. When in 1648 a peace treaty was forged that ended almost 100 years of war, known as the Treaty of Westphalia, a type of World-Peace Treaty that still stands to some degree as a foundation for modern civilization, the high-level principle that was developed was termed the Principle of the Advantage of the Other. When the USA was founded, the guiding high-level principle was termed the Principle of the General Welfare. Humanity has moved away from these principles to universal looting, terror, war, and in some cases to "brutality without mercy," which was developed in the background to the advancing systems of empire. Great nations were destroyed on the empire course whenever they became drawn into it. The USA is a modern example among many. In this rapidly advancing context, the modern 'Western" world, the leading imperial world, has conditioned itself against its own survival. The outcome is assured unless society rediscovers its humanity and raises itself out of the current trap. Whether or not this liberation will be achieved remains to be seen. There is a movement in progress in the world today, towards the needed liberation of humanity from its small-minded inhumanity. This liberation movement didn't exist at the time the novel was written but is in progress now. The liberation movement comes out of China, carried by the power of China's amazing economic development and industrialization. The potential exists in this arena for a New World to be created that the return of the Ice Age cannot affect, that will likely begin in the 2050s. When this becomes the course of the world, humanity writes itself a ticket for its survival. The book presented here opens with this prospect, under the heading, Queen of the New Law. The book ends with a second ending, a tragic ending in which war destroys the achievements of humanity and much of humanity with it. In the real world both options are possible. The title, Lord, is enabled with sophistry. The sophist king has no human face, but the face of a void. In Tolkien's saga, "The Lord of the Rings" the Lord is only represented. Lead-in The great Ice Age uncertainty is not located in the realm of Ice Age physics, or in our understanding of the principles involved, nor is it located in the lack of evidence. To the contrary, the principles are well understood, the physics is replicated in laboratory experiments, and the evidence that the Ice Age Challenge is real, is monumental. The great uncertainty lies in the court of society's response to what is known and understood and is already evident around the world. Society's response is so faint at the present time that it is almost non-existing. The question of whether there will be a response forthcoming that enables the whole of humanity to live past the onrushing crisis and create itself a bright future for it, for which the potential exists, remains yet to be answered. As I have said, the physics are simple and the physics plainly apparent. We have observed many Grand Solar Minimum events in the past, and large Global Warming events for more than three thousand years. But we saw their amplitude and intervals shrinking. We saw the interglacial climate as a whole, diminishing, measured in ice cores. We also saw the level of solar activity measured in sunspot numbers and isotope ratios, diminishing at an ever-faster rate. Now in more recent time, past the year-2000, we saw even the solar wind diminishing, measured at a rate of 30% per solar cycle, which is still ongoing. Even the 11-year solar cycle itself - the heart beat of the solar system - has slowed, from 11 to 13 years, and is increasing. The climate scene on Earth has thereby become a scene of wide-ranging anomalies, such as blizzards, floods, and droughts. Ironically, what is deemed to be the next sequential Grand Solar Minimum event, anticipated for the 2030/40 timeframe, is not a cyclical event at all that the world will recover from. These events are history. The solar system no longer has the underlying support to recover from its ongoing collapse. While we will experience another Little Ice Age in the near future, the climate collapse towards it, that is already ongoing, has a different cause than the solar minimum events before. This different cause renders the now unfolding Solar Minimum event unrecoverable. This means that the event is not an event itself, but a transition phenomenon in the boundary zone to the start of the next Ice Age that renders the Earth largely uninhabitable for 90,000 years into the future. It is worth repeating that the great uncertainty in all this is not located in the solar collapse process itself, and the corresponding collapse of the climate on Earth. These aspects are certain. The astrophysical processes are fairly predictable with scientific understanding of the principles involved. We have numerous measurements on hand that tell us that we have come to the end of the line of the interglacial world, with enormous consequences looming ahead for society. However, the challenge to master the consequences comes with grand opportunities in its wings for building us a New World with the technological power to avoid the consequences. While all of these factors are certain, our response to them is not. The response is presently a big ZERO. Still, the time remaining to us is our space for repentance, a time to choose life and develop a profound love for the wondrous humanity that we all share and to protect it with the technological power that we have already in the pocket. We need to develop us a new humanist paradigm on this front that inspires us to built ourselves out of the new impending climate crisis, by building us a New World that the Ice Age Climate cannot touch. Only then, when we are committed to this path, will the uncertainty end.
