Hagar Hershberger has a lot of reason to dislike Gideon Lapp, no matter how much she prays to God to help her forgive him. When Gideon suggested Peter marry another girl--after courting with Hagar--he lost her friendship. Now, Hagar's widowed mother has deeded her father's blacksmith forge to Gideon because Hagar' dead father taught Gideon the skill. Since the forge is right behind the farm house she grew up in, Hagar must now face every day the man who wrecked her planned life.Gideon knew Peter didn't have enough strength of character to match up to Hagar's spunk. He misses her friendship, but he doesn't realize at first that, while she's not right for Peter, she's right for Gideon. These two strong-minded people must thrash out the 'smithy issue and, in the process, find that their hearts beat only for one another.
