Every year, on 31 December, Hank and his older brother Jacob make a pilgrimage to their father's grave. They have never been close - indeed, they have never even liked one another - but they keep this promise, made to their father before he died. This year Jacob's friend Lou comes with them. As they drive towards the cemetery in Jacob's truck through the snowbound landscape, a fox runs across the road, and they skid on the ice and crash. Jacob's dog chases the fox through the deep snow. The three men follow him, beating their way through the drifts, until they come to a valley where they see a small plane, belly down in the snow. In the pilot's seat is a dead man, his eyes pecked out by the crows. In the back they discover a duffle bag. In the bag is 4.4 million dollars.A Simple Plan is a novel that slowly but surely grips the reader by the throat as it unfolds in an inevitable and doomed spiral of events, through murder, betrayal and mass killing. From its deceptively simple beginning, to its horrific and surprising conclusion, it marks the début of an extraordinary new talent.

This book reports the results of an ethnographic study, focusing primarily on the experiences of four teachers of the Chinese language in Australian secondary schools. The author creates an audience for their voices as they reflect on their own understandings of culture, language teaching, and culture in language teaching through semi-structured interviews, and compares these reflections with written stimulus dialogues designed to elicit 'culture-in-language' reflections, as well as curriculum and policy documents produced by the Australian government. The book's findings indicate that teachers of the Chinese language are diverse in their views on culture, language teaching, and the ways in which culture can or should inform language teaching, and the author argues that language teacher intercultural competence cannot be assessed through a synthesis of the current English-only research literature. This book will be of interest to teachers and teacher trainers of Chinese as a foreign language, as well as students and scholars of applied linguistics and language education more broadly.

Are Your Ready to Quit Your Job and Make a Living As An Author?I was offered my first book deal before the age of 30. I was over the moon I had a literary agent, and one of the top publishers in the country; when the book was published, there were even mega-production studios calling my agent to inquire about the rights. It's what every author dreams of, right? Kind of. Sort of. No It used to be. But that was several years ago. That was before the birth of the first real game-changer since Gutenberg's press: the Amazon Kindle. The Kindle itself didn't rock the industry to its core - rather, it was the self-publishing platform that came with it: Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) Authors could always self-publish, but prior to KDP, it was something you did when no publisher would take a chance on you. After KDP, authors were proving that for the price of $0, you could have your book published not only electronically, but in print as well. In a very short time, authors started using KDP and becoming millionaires I started using KDP (as well as other publishing distribution channels) way back when it first opened its doors, and I haven't looked back. I've launched several imprints and have sold over 2,000,000 books. In this book, I'll show you how I, and other authors, have done it. A word of caution: this isn't a how-to publish a book on KDP; if you need a step-by-step on how to navigate through the KDP dashboard, then there are other books that cover that (but seriously, publishing through KDP is ridiculously easy ). This book is to help you launch your book and attract more readers.
Jump Start Your Career As a Children's Writer Many years ago, I had the idea for my first picture book. I sat on in for years for one reason and one reason only: I couldn't draw. Like at all Even my stick figures looked terrible I hoped one day to be connected with an illustrator who couldn't write, but one day I decided to stop waiting and start doing I got proactive and started looking for an illustrator. And it wasn't as much as I anticipated. I realized that this was something that really could be done on a budget This book is twofold: One, it's for writers like me who need to know how to find an illustrator on a budget Two, it's for children's writers who are hoping to one day make a living doing this. Let's be clear: This is not an easy career; nor is one you will get rich quick at. But if you are ready for some hard work, then read on Note: this book is based of "The Six Figure Writer"; it has an expanded section covering Children's Authorship.
Do You Dream of Retiring and Making a Living As a Writer? Learn How Do you dream of one day retiring and spending the rest of your days sitting on your couch and watching TV? Maybe But if you do, then you probably are not reading this description Most people, even in retirement, want to have a job. We may not call it a job, or even think about it as a job--but we want to do something. For many people, that job is writing that great story they've had in their head for years. While these people typically dream of making a good income out of it, most never do. It's not because their book was no good. It's because they never took the time to understand how to do it right. They spent months--years even--working on something they cared deeply for, but only a few hours maximum thinking about how they would get people to read it.The goal of this book isn't to tell you how to write your story. There are plenty of books on that. The goal of this book is to help you with that next step in the journey: publishing it. And by publishing it, I don't mean helping you find a publisher or agent who will do the heavy lifting for you--I mean helping you do it yourself through self-publishing and bring home the income most writers only dream of It's going to show you the strategies used by thousands of writers (myself included) to turn their passion for storytelling into something that's more than a hobby--something that has an actual livable income that comes with it.Are you ready to start your retirement career? Let's go
