This book presents the research works related to the development of new algorithms for line outage identification using voltage phasor of PMU. Three new voltage phasor-based algorithms are introduced. The proposed three models are 1) Direct comparison of phasor angle measurement (DCPAM) model 2) Comparison of bus current injection (CBCI) model 3) Comparison of bus power injection mismatch (CBPIM) model. The proposed algorithms also consider the constraints like PMU outage issue and measurement noises which reflect the novelty and reliability of the methodology. The performance of the proposed methodologies are checked on different IEEE test systems in terms of accuracy.

Le but principal de ce travail de recherche est de r pondre aux diff rents objectifs tels que (i) l'exploitation du mod le CA et le d veloppement de nouvelles fonctions objectives, (ii) l'utilisation exclusive des phaseurs de courant au lieu des phaseurs de tension utilis s par la plupart des chercheurs existants, (iii) la r solution des probl mes de panne de PMU, (iv) l'incorporation de PMU d fectueux et de l'incertitude de mesure dans les mod les math matiques, (v) la d tection des pannes de lignes parall les et (vi) la garantie de la rentabilit des mod les d velopp s. L'ensemble de ce travail de recherche est r alis par phases afin d'atteindre les objectifs mentionn s ci-dessus. Tout d'abord, les phaseurs de tension sont utilis s pour d velopper le mod le TLOD. Ensuite, les phaseurs de courant sont utilis s pour r soudre le probl me de la d tection des coupures de lignes de transmission (TLOD). La d tection des coupures de lignes parall les est galement valid e pour la premi re fois l'aide d'algorithmes bas s sur les phaseurs de courant. L'efficacit et la viabilit des algorithmes TLOD propos s ont t v rifi es sur diff rents syst mes de test de r f rence de l'IEEE dans l'environnement MATLAB. Das Hauptziel dieser Forschungsarbeit ist es, die verschiedenen Ziele anzugehen, wie z.B. (i) die Nutzung des Wechselstrommodells und die Entwicklung neuer Zielfunktionen, (ii) die ausschlie liche Verwendung von Stromphasen anstelle von Spannungsphasen, die von den meisten bestehenden Forschern verwendet werden, (iii) die Bew ltigung von PMU-Ausfallproblemen, (iv) die Einbeziehung fehlerhafter PMU und Messunsicherheit in die mathematischen Modelle, (v) die Erkennung von parallelen Leitungsausf llen und (vi) die Sicherstellung der Kosteneffizienz der entwickelten Modelle. Diese gesamte Forschungsarbeit wird phasenweise durchgef hrt, um die oben genannten Ziele zu erreichen. Erstens werden die Spannungsphasen zur Entwicklung des TLOD-Modells verwendet. Zweitens werden die Stromphasoren zur L sung des Problems der Erkennung von Leitungsausf llen (TLOD) herangezogen. Auch die Erkennung von parallelen Leitungsausf llen wird zum ersten Mal mit stromphasorbasierten Algorithmen validiert. Die Wirksamkeit und Durchf hrbarkeit der vorgeschlagenen TLOD-Algorithmen wurde an verschiedenen IEEE-Benchmark-Testsystemen in der MATLAB-Umgebung berpr ft. Die Leistung der vorgeschlagenen TLOD-Modelle wurde durch Berechnung der Erkennungsgenauigkeit (DA) bewertet.

O principal objectivo deste trabalho de investiga o abordar os diferentes objectivos, tais como (i) a explora o do modelo AC e o desenvolvimento das novas fun es objectivo, (ii) a utiliza o de fasores de corrente exclusivamente em vez de fasores de tens o que s o utilizados pela maioria dos investigadores existentes, (iii) a resolu o de problemas de interrup o da PMU, (iv) a incorpora o de PMU defeituosa e incerteza de medi o nos modelos matem ticos, (v) a detec o de interrup o da linha paralela e (vi) a garantia da rela o custo-efic cia dos modelos desenvolvidos. Todo este trabalho de investiga o realizado por fases para atingir os objectivos acima mencionados. Em primeiro lugar, os fasores de tens o s o utilizados para desenvolver o modelo TLOD. Em segundo lugar, os fasores de corrente s o utilizados para resolver o problema de detec o de corte de linha de transmiss o (TLOD). A detec o de interrup es em linhas paralelas tamb m validada pela primeira vez utilizando algoritmos baseados nos fasores de corrente. A efic cia e a viabilidade dos algoritmos TLOD propostos foram verificadas em diferentes sistemas de teste de refer ncia do IEEE no ambiente MATLAB. Lo scopo principale di questo lavoro di ricerca quello di affrontare diversi obiettivi, quali (i) lo sfruttamento del modello AC e lo sviluppo di nuove funzioni obiettivo, (ii) l'utilizzo esclusivo dei fasori di corrente invece di quelli di tensione, utilizzati dalla maggior parte dei ricercatori esistenti, (iii) la gestione dei problemi di interruzione delle PMU, (iv) l'incorporazione di PMU difettose e dell'incertezza di misura nei modelli matematici, (v) l'individuazione di interruzioni di linee parallele e (vi) la garanzia dell'efficacia dei costi dei modelli sviluppati. L'intero lavoro di ricerca viene svolto per fasi al fine di raggiungere gli obiettivi sopra menzionati. In primo luogo, i fasori di tensione vengono utilizzati per sviluppare il modello TLOD. In secondo luogo, i fasori di corrente vengono utilizzati per risolvere il problema del rilevamento delle interruzioni della linea di trasmissione (TLOD). Inoltre, per la prima volta viene convalidato il rilevamento di un'interruzione della linea parallela utilizzando algoritmi basati sui fasori di corrente. L'efficacia e la fattibilit degli algoritmi TLOD proposti sono state verificate su diversi sistemi di test di riferimento IEEE in ambiente MATLAB. Le prestazioni dei modelli TLOD proposti sono state valutate calcolando l'accuratezza di rilevamento (DA).

This book presents the research works and investigations related to the contingency due to line outage. Firstly, the detail assessment of the impact of line outage has been studied through PV curve method. Later on, investigation has been carried out to find the most critical line in normal loading condition. In view of this, ranking of the line outage contingencies are done on the basis of proposed overall severity index (OSI) comprising of two index i.e. active power deviation-based index and voltage deviation based index. Furthermore, the critical contingency is identified though well-known L-index. Moreover, the impact of critical contingency is analysed through new indices namely voltage deviation index (VDI) and loss deviation index (LDI). The effectiveness and viability of the proposed schemes are checked on different IEEE benchmark systems in MATLAB environment.

The primary aim of this research work is to address the different objectives such as (i) exploitation of the AC model and development of the new objective functions, (ii) utilization of current phasors exclusively instead of voltage phasors which are used by most of the existing researchers, (iii) tackling of PMU outage issues, (iv) incorporation of faulty PMU and measurement uncertainty into the mathematical models, (v) detection of parallel line outage and (vi) ensuring the cost-effectiveness of the developed models. This entire research work is accomplished phase-wise to achieve the objectives mentioned above. Firstly, the voltage phasors are used to develop the TLOD model. Secondly, the current phasors are utilized to solve the transmission line outage detection (TLOD) problem. The detection of parallel line outage is also validated for the first time using current phasor based algorithms. The effectiveness and viability of the proposed TLOD algorithms have been checked on different IEEE benchmark test systems in the MATLAB environment. The performance of the proposed TLOD models has been evaluated by computing the detection accuracy (DA).
