"There is something out there," a Cheyenne a troubled brave warns Walking Man as they pursue a small band of soldiers across the desolate prairie. The Cheyenne warrior is uncertain of the meaning until he is visited by a spirit that warns him of an ancient enemy of the tribe; a hideous beast from the past who feeds on blood-lust and fear. The mythical creature attacks the Cheyenne, nearly wiping them out, and Walking Man, frantic to save the lives of the remaining warriors, is forced to strike a bargain with the soldiers. Join forces, he tells the white men, and let us fight the beast together. The enemies become allies in a desperate fight to kill the creature, but the story is not over. A second spirit visits Walking Man with a message that both parties face a hidden danger. Now, in, in a battle that can have only one outcome, the hunters become the hunted in a last, violent encounter against a creature that will not die.

The more I thought about it, the more I realised my career has been unusual. How did I manage to do everything wrong but still end up on the front cover of magazines, headlining world tours and achieving Top 5 albums? How did I attract such obsessive and fanatical fans, many of whom take everything I do or say very personally, which is simultaneously flattering but can also be tremendously frustrating? Even this I somehow cultivated without somehow meaning to. My accidental career. Limited Edition of One is unlike any other music book you will ever have read. Part the long-awaited memoir of Steven Wilson: whose celebrated band Porcupine Tree began as teenage fiction before unintentionally evolving into a reality that encompassed Grammy-nominated records and sold-out shows around the world, before he set out for an even more successful solo career. Part the story of a twenty-first century artist who achieved chart-topping mainstream success without ever becoming part of the mainstream. From Abba to Stockhausen, via a collection of conversations and thought pieces on the art of listening, the rules of collaboration, lists of lists, personal stories, professional adventurism (including food, film, TV, modern art), old school rock stardom, how to negotiate an obsessive fanbase and survive on social media, and dream-fever storytelling.

While the 'venereal peril' of nineteenth-century France was responsible for thousands of deaths, much attention has focused on the range of social anxieties with which it was associated, including degeneracy, depopulation, state surveillance and public morality. In this interdisciplinary study, Steven Wilson redirects attention onto the body as locus of syphilis. Combining a critical medical humanities approach with close readings of medical and literary texts, Wilson explores the ways in which canonical and non-canonical writers of the time found a language to represent the diseased body. Drawing on scholarship from gender studies, theology, pain studies and word/image relations, this engaging study investigates what the language used in nineteenth-century French literature tells us not only about the pathological function and lived experience of syphilis, but about the role played by literature in representing disease.Steven Wilson is Senior Lecturer in French Studies at Queen's University Belfast.

What do you do when you have to stay at home and not go to work? You try and make all your dreams come true Doesn't everyone? So Steven Wilson did what he'd always wanted to do and wrote the collection of short, snapshot stories known as "Watering the Garden." Set in and around Newcastle, NSW, Australia, and often using an image as the starting point, the stories are an eclectic mix of characters, situations, and unexpected outcomes: meet Sterling from the Urban Flyers running group, a drug courier dog, an old cowboy living on the coast, a worn out journo typing his final story, and any number of men wondering what to do in chance encounters with an umbrella touting young woman, a large cow named Misty, and a backyard invading small brown chicken. These stories are full of surprises, meditations on life, and hilarious humour.

Complicated Game offers a unique insight into the work of one of Britain's most original and influential songwriters-and an unprecedentedly revealing and instructive guide to how songs and records are made. Developed from a series of interviews conducted over many months, this fascinating book explores in detail some thirty XTC songs-including well-known singles such as 'Senses Working Overtime' and the controversial 'Dear God'-from throughout the group's thirty-year career. It casts new light on the writing of lyrics, the construction of melodies and arrangements, the process of recording, and the workings of the?music industry. But it is also filled with anecdotes about Partridge, his XTC bandmates, and their adventures around the world, all told with the songwriter's legendary humour. The book also includes pages from Partridge's songwriting notebooks and reproductions of his original artwork designs, as well as a guide to Andy Partridge's Swindon and a foreword by Steven Wilson, the guitarist, songwriter, and record producer best known as the founder and leader of Porcupine Tree.
