Robert Louis Stevenson's book, St. Ives: The Adventures of a French Prisoner in England, is about a French prisoner in England. St. Ives: The Adventures of a French Prisoner in England is an exciting book that shows how people lived during the Napoleonic Wars. During the Napoleonic Wars, the story is about what happens to a French prisoner of war named St. Ives after he breaks out of jail in Edinburgh. St. Ives goes on a series of adventures in the English countryside, where he meets a wide range of interesting people. He gets involved in many schemes and plots, such as a plan to sneak gold out of England and a love affair with Flora Gilchrist, a rich young woman. During his travels, St. Ives faces many problems, such as being locked up, coming close to dying and meeting dangerous criminals. Even though these problems are in his way, he is still eager to reach his goals and get back to France.

Jim est tout la fois fascin et terrifi par ce marin col rique, violent et ivrogne, d'autant qu'une obscure menace semble planer sur ce dernier. La menace se pr cise lorsque Pew, un pirate aveugle, donne Billy Bones la tache noire, annonciatrice de mort dans le monde des pirates. Alors que les heures de Billy Bones sont compt es, il meurt, foudroy par une crise d'apoplexie, tandis qu'au m me moment, le p re de Jim meurt d'une grave maladie (la phtisie). Ce dernier tait soign par le docteur Livesey.

The novel has attracted the praise and admiration of writers as diverse as Henry James, Jorge Luis Borges, and Hilary Mantel. A sequel, Catriona, was published in 1893. Kidnapped is set around 18th-century Scottish events, notably the "Appin Murder", which occurred near Ballachulish in 1752 in the aftermath of the Jacobite rising of 1745. Many of the characters were real people, including one of the principals, Alan Breck Stewart. The political situation of the time is portrayed from multiple viewpoints, and the Scottish Highlanders are treated sympathetically.

The Silverado Squatters provides some interesting views of California during the late 19th century. Stevenson uses the first telephone of his life. He meets a number of wine growers in Napa Valley, an enterprise he deemed "experimental", with growers sometimes even mislabelling the bottles as originating from Spain in order to sell their product to sceptical Americans. He visits the oldest wine grower in the valley, Jacob Schram, who had been experimenting for 18 years at his Schramsberg Winery, and had recently expanded the wine cellar in his backyard.

Treasure Island is an adventure novel by Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson, narrating a tale of "buccaneers and buried gold". Its influence is enormous on popular perceptions of pirates, including such elements as treasure maps marked with an "X", schooners, the Black Spot, tropical islands, and one-legged seamen bearing parrots on their shoulders. Treasure Island is traditionally considered a coming-of-age story and is noted for its atmosphere, characters, and action. It is one of the most frequently dramatized of all novels.
