La morphologie math matique, en particulier la segmentation d'images bas e sur l'algorithme des bassins versants, occupe une place importante au deuxi me niveau du traitement des images num riques. Les images segment es obtenues doivent tre adapt es aux machines informatiques pour un traitement ult rieur. Quelques algorithmes standard ont d j t invent s et ont t tablis sans aucun probl me apparent. Malgr la qualit de leurs tudes, il existe de nombreux domaines et sous-domaines qui ne sont apparemment pas exhaustifs et qui peuvent encore faire l'objet d' tudes ult rieures. Ce livre a pour but de mener des recherches sur ces aspects que les auteurs consid rent comme inexplor s. Tous ces aspects ont fait l'objet d'une tude th orique suivie d'exp rimentations bas es sur des logiciels informatiques (MATLAB, diff rentes versions disponibles de temps autre). Ces exp riences ont t r alis es sur des images num riques import es de bases de donn es standard ainsi que sur des images r elles. En outre, ce livre constitue une tentative sinc re de combler les vides dans les ouvrages existants et de remplir ainsi les pi ces vacantes dans la segmentation d'images bas e sur la morphologie math matique.

J foram inventados e estabelecidos alguns algoritmos normalizados sem qualquer problema aparente. Apesar da qualidade dos seus estudos, h muitos mbitos e sub reas que aparentemente n o s o exaustivos e que podem ainda ser objeto de estudos futuros. Este livro tem como objetivo realizar estudos de investiga o sobre estes aspectos que os autores consideram inexplorados. Todos estes aspectos foram estudados teoricamente, seguidos de experi ncias baseadas em software inform tico (MATLAB, v rias vers es dispon veis ao longo do tempo). As mesmas foram efectuadas em imagens digitais importadas de bases de dados padr o, bem como em imagens da vida real. Para al m disso, o livro fez uma tentativa sincera de preencher as lacunas existentes e, assim, preencher os espa os vazios na segmenta o matem tica de imagens baseada na morfologia.

La morfologia matematica, in particolare la segmentazione delle immagini basata sull'algoritmo dello spartiacque, occupa un posto importante nel secondo livello di elaborazione delle immagini digitali. Le immagini segmentate in uscita devono essere adatte alle macchine informatiche per la successiva elaborazione. Sono gi stati inventati alcuni algoritmi standard che si sono affermati senza alcuna insidia apparente. Nonostante la qualit dei loro studi, ci sono molti ambiti e sottoaree che non sono apparentemente esaustivi e che potrebbero essere oggetto di ulteriori studi. Questo libro si propone di condurre studi di ricerca su questi aspetti che gli autori ritengono inesplorati. Tutti questi aspetti sono stati studiati teoricamente, seguiti da sperimentazioni basate su software (MATLAB, varie versioni disponibili di volta in volta). Le stesse sono state effettuate su immagini digitali importate da database standard e su immagini reali. Oltre a questo, il libro ha fatto un sincero tentativo di colmare i vuoti esistenti e quindi di riempire le stanze vuote nella segmentazione matematica delle immagini basata sulla morfologia.

Die mathematische Morphologie, insbesondere die auf dem Watershed-Algorithmus basierende Bildsegmentierung, nimmt einen wichtigen Platz auf der zweiten Ebene der digitalen Bildverarbeitung ein. Die ausgegebenen segmentierten Bilder sollten f r die Weiterverarbeitung durch die Computer geeignet und f rderlich sein. Es wurden bereits einige Standardalgorithmen entwickelt und etabliert, die keine offensichtlichen Schwachstellen aufweisen. Trotz der Qualit t ihrer Studien gibt es viele Bereiche und Teilgebiete, die offensichtlich nicht ersch pfend sind und noch f r weitere Studien brig bleiben. Das vorliegende Buch zielt darauf ab, diese von den Autoren als unerforscht empfundenen Aspekte zu erforschen. Alle diese Aspekte wurden theoretisch untersucht, gefolgt von Experimenten auf der Grundlage von Computersoftware (MATLAB in verschiedenen Versionen, die von Zeit zu Zeit verf gbar sind). Die Experimente wurden mit digitalen Bildern durchgef hrt, die aus Standarddatenbanken importiert wurden, sowie mit realen Bildern. Abgesehen davon hat das Buch einen aufrichtigen Versuch unternommen, indem es die L cken in den existierenden B chern f llt und somit die leeren R ume in der mathematisch-morphologisch basierten Bildsegmentierung ausf llt.

Mathematical morphology especially watershed algorithm based image segmentation has been found to occupy an important place in the second level of digital image processing. The output segmented images should be suitable and conducive to the computer machines for subsequent processing. Already a few standard algorithms have been invented and have been established without any apparent pitfall in them. In spite of the quality of their studies, there are a lot of scopes and subareas which are apparently non exhaustive and may still left for further studies. This book aims at to carry out research studies on these aspects which are felt by the authors unexplored. All these aspects have been studied theoretically followed by computer software (MATLAB various versions available from time to time) based experimentations. The same have been carried out on the digital images imported from standard databases as well as real life images. Apart from this, the book has placed a sincere attempt by filling of the voids in the existing ones and thus fills up the vacant rooms in mathematical morphological based image segmentation.
