The United States newest military service, the U.S. Space Force (USSF), has a unique opportunity to take advantage of the widening range of commercial capabilities and create a new culture and new management processes to respond to the growing challenges presented by potential adversaries in space. The authors describe an unconstrained ?clean sheet? approach to space acquisition for USSF designed around the new service's unique mission.

Service members must meet U.S. Department of Defense standards to ensure that they are fit to serve. However, the services set standards for specific career fields. To meet critical needs, the Air Force seeks to better align personnel to certain fields (those with higher technical levels but lower physical demands). The authors explore the implications to Air Force culture of tailoring standards to expand or limit the pool of qualified personnel.

Recently, large employers, health plans, and health care providers in the Cincinnati area joined with community organizations in an effort to improve health care and population health, as well as reduce health care costs. This analysis determines how particular patient and facility characteristics influence Veterans Equitable Resource Allocation (VERA) system allocations to the Department of Veterans Affairs regional service networks and simplifies and refines the models created in earlier RAND research to reflect policy changes and more recent data.
