Keneth Smyth-Jones the Commissioner of police orders Chief Superintendent Leo Mason to train a number of female police officers in the art of getting information from female victims and witnesses, then disperse them throughout Britain. CS Mason then requests these same officers be trained and teach others in computer skills. Later CS Mason gets two senior officers to learn how to interview prisoners that used firearms to give information on how they procured these weapons. After this he gives all his team and others the tasks of looking after all the outside activities, apart from the new lab's staffing and C-Cut #2.

This is the second in a series of fictitious books about a team of police and civilian helpers, set up to help other squads and units when these others cannot find the clues to who committed crimes. This team is called 'Case-Clear Up Team', C-Cut for short, and is lead by Detective Chief Superintendent Leo Mason. C-Cut was set up three and a half months before, and in that short time have helped others to catch more than thirty criminals and cleared over ninety unsolved crimes from the books. Also C-cut have a 100% record of clear ups, they use the most modern and up to date technology to accomplish all of this. A number of criminals of all types are seemingly vanishing whilst on the run in Britain. A detective superintendent in Scotland Yard is tasked with the job of finding out where they have been hiding, DS Leo Mason from the serious crime squad puts together a small, unusual team to do this and is supplied with whatever he requires to do the work. This takes a long time And the team are joined by two others when they get their first break in the case. Utilising all the team's unusual, and in some cases unorthodox talents, together find what they are searching for and in so doing, also apprehend and arrest a great number of the criminals. The team are then given a new brief, to help other units and squads to solve crimes that have stalled or seem unsolvable. This team uses those both in the force and outside the force for this task and is highly regarded by the top brass for this work. Given a suit of offices in a police station separate from others, the team set to work in earnest to carry out their brief, soon earning a great deal of respect from high, wide and far. The team is also given a name and an acronym all of its own.

After receiving information on a man with a gun from a young boy that CS Mason knows, C-Cut start to investigate gun sales in Britain. This task takes time but C-Cut solve other crimes and puzzles at the same time. CS Mason also leads a major operation in London involving over a hundred police officers.

The Case clear up team start investigating a few murders that are very similar, this leads to a couple of race crimes. After this CS Mason picks up on a few crimes that are not in his remit, but with the approval of first his team and then the Commissioner of police, the C-Cut team investigate these crimes.
