Human trafficking kingpins, a shamanic sect, and a reluctant FBI team merge to stop Dan and Jason Johnston from doing their best shamanic work. Dan and Jason Johnston are called to work with the FBI on a human trafficking assignment, targeted at Native American teens. Agent Rafsky, who doesn't know why Dan and his son were called in on the case, and is skeptical of their skills, has her own way of handling things and would rather be left alone to do her job. A, long-ago friend of Dan's, is also involved, but now appears very suspicious. The whole operation is delicate and could result in failure as well as the deaths of some of the girls. Complications escalate once Dan realizes that other Shamans are involved. As the novel pitches Dan and Jason against dangers found while in altered states of consciousness, they also have to deal with skepticism and physical roadblocks from the FBI. Everything comes to a head when the FBI uses Jason to infiltrate the trafficking operation and gets found out. That's when Dan gets physically involved himself, putting him, Jason, and his friend in danger.
A colony of scientists, a megalomaniac, an alien race...which will prevail? It's not about scientific discovery, and it's not about saving an alien race, it's about power and control. If Garth Killjoy, President of Section 204 of the Intergalactic Peace Force, gets his way he'll have the entire Earth Central government under his control, and he knows it. That means all bets are off when it comes to honesty or fairness when working with the colonists. That's why he sent a fake negotiator pummeling toward C47 in a cruiser filled with explosives. Before the ship gets blown out of the sky, Captain Palmer Luce ejects and is rescued by a second cruiser. She believes her friend may have gone down with the ship. But Lieutenant Brandon Lockhardt barely escapes with his life...and he's not happy. He can't wait to talk with Palmer to see why she left him behind. And she's heartbroken that he may be dead. Make Money Writing explains the key elements of how to make a living while freelance writing. It covers everything from the types of pieces magazines (online and print) are looking for, how to contact editors, and how to start your business. This is something I've been doing for over fifteenyears. I've actually been freelance writing(fiction, nonfiction, and poetry) for overthirty, but had a regular job for half that time. Many of those years, I was freelancing parttime, while working as the Editor-in-Chief ofseveral commercial and business-to-businessmagazines. So, I've been on both sides of thedesk: acquisitions as an editor, and pitching asa freelancer. I know this business well.

Problems with Opaque: a collection of six poetry chapbooks

The chapbooks in this collection span from 1986 through 1996. During those ten years, I wrote and published literally hundreds of poems in little magazines and university publications across the country. I regularly entered chapbook contests and actually won a few. But, just as often, a small publisher would contact me and ask for 16 or 24 or 36 poems to create a chapbook. Those were great days, and I am eternally grateful to those publishers.Since chapbooks are typically published in very small runs of anywhere from 50 to maybe 250 copies, the chapbook poems collected here are no longer available in that wonderful format.I've tried to honor those chapbooks as best I could. So, to do so, I've included the original covers (only in black and white instead of color), and as much of the internal artwork as possible (also scanned in black and white). By including these pieces, I hope that the personal touch of the chapbook comes through even to a minor extent. Where the same poem showed up in more than one chapbook, I removed the second or third appearance from this collection. So, if you happen to have one of the original chapbooks, there may be a poem missing from this collection.

Noot, Zimp, and Storret, the crow, run for their lives, while attempting to have a sacred vigil for the loss of their fellow doublesight. But with ransoms on their heads, who can they trust? After the battle at Castle Weilk, the doublesight split up and hide from the humans. Once again, they are hunted down and murdered, only this time more aggressively, and with bounties on the heads of key individuals. Noot has lost touch with his long-time friend and cousin Zimp, and searches for her inside the castle walls-the most dangerous place of all. On a sacred mission of her own, Zimp along with Storret, her crow companion, decide to travel Tortuous Road back through Brendern Forest where her quest originally started. Captured by bandits, Noot and Zimp wait to be traded for King Belford's ransom when help arrives in the form of an unlikely doublesight clan. A solemn time in her life, Zimp never expects to find the one person she was almost positive was dead. His presence (and damaged condition) pushes Zimp forward more forcefully, and she becomes determined to find a place where she and other doublesight can live in peace.
