Prozesse des Korrigierens bilden neben dem Schreibprozess das Fundament der literarischen und wissenschaftlichen Textproduktion. Sie bleiben jedoch zumeist im Verborgenen und sind, vielleicht gerade deshalb, bislang lediglich peripher untersucht worden. Der Band bietet einen Vorschlag zur Analyse des Korrigierens als Kulturtechnik. Korrigieren wird dabei als T tigkeit begriffen, die Produktionsverh ltnissen unterworfen ist, aber auch selbst zur Produktion, Destruktion, Erg nzung, Verbesserung oder berschreibung von Texten beitr gt, eine T tigkeit, die h ufig Machtkonstellationen offenlegt und eine normierende Funktion hat. Die Beitr ge nehmen geschichts-, literatur-, kultur-, medien- und sprachwissenschaftliche Perspektiven auf Schriften vom 18. bis 21. Jahrhundert ein, und untersuchen (Auto-)Korrekturprozesse in Bereichen wie im gegenseitigen Lektorat, in B hnenadaptionen, Schreibmaschinentechnologien, Schulen oder Textbearbeitungsprogrammen.

To date, the theoretical development of q-calculus has rested on a non-uniform basis. Generally, the bulky Gasper-Rahman notation was used, but the published works on q-calculus looked different depending on where and by whom they were written. This confusion of tongues not only complicated the theoretical development but also contributed to q-calculus remaining a neglected mathematical field. This book overcomes these problems by introducing a new and interesting notation for q-calculus based on logarithms.For instance, q-hypergeometric functions are now visually clear and easy to trace back to their hypergeometric parents. With this new notation it is also easy to see the connection between q-hypergeometric functions and the q-gamma function, something that until now has been overlooked.The book covers many topics on q-calculus, including special functions, combinatorics, and q-difference equations. Apart from a thorough review of the historical development of q-calculus, this book also presents the domains of modern physics for which q-calculus is applicable, such as particle physics and supersymmetry, to name just a few.?

This book proposes a theory of the distribution of adverbial adjuncts in a Principles and Parameters framework, claiming that there are few syntactic principles specific to adverbials; rather, for the most part, adverbials adjoin freely to any projection. Adjuncts’ possible hierarchical positions are determined by whether they can receive a proper interpretation, according to their selectional (including scope) requirements and general compositional rules, while linear order is determined by hierarchical position along with a system of directionality principles and morphological weight, both of which apply generally to adjuncts and all other syntactic elements. A wide range of adverbial types is analyzed; predicational adverbs (such as manner, and modal adverbs), domain expressions like financially, temporal, frequency, duration, and focusing adverbials; participant PPs (e.g. locatives and benefactives); resultative and conditional clauses, and others, taken primarily from English, Chinese, French, and Italian, with occasional reference to others (such as German and Japanese).
