Thomas Troward gave a series of lectures titled "The Dore Lectures on Mental Science" in 1909 that examine how the mind and the environment interact. Troward was a British author and philosopher who specialized in the study of the mind's power and the foundations of mental science. The lectures in this book discuss a variety of mental science-related subjects, such as the nature of the mind, the power of thinking, and the function of imagination in creating our world. Troward contends that by comprehending the fundamentals of mental science, we may harness the power of the mind to attain our objectives and enhance our lives. The mind has the ability to construct and shape the world around us. Troward presents a thorough and useful reference to mental science by drawing on a variety of sources, such as Eastern philosophical ideas, Christian Science concepts, and his own experiences and observations. He stresses the need of adopting a positive outlook, creates a clear sense of purpose, and utilize our imaginations to manifest the world we want. The Dore Lectures on Mental Science, as a whole, are a challenging and inspirational book that provides insightful information on the power of the mind and its capacity to influence our lives and the world around us.
The ""Law"" is the laws that govern thought and the forces of nature, the phenomena that we perceive, things that are not flexible. The ""Word"" is the divine power that creates. In ""The Law and the Word"", Thomas Troward reconciles these two concepts in the shadow of the Biblical promise of eternal life for the truly faithful. With a logical, often scientific, always benevolent style, Troward lays out a method for the practical application of spiritual metaphysics. Essentially Through analogies and references to contemporary science and technology (the telegraph, radioactivity, flying machines), Thomas Troward brings his points home to modern readers.
Combining his logician's eye with his artistic sensibilities, Thomas Troward was able to communicate truths on the most esoteric of subjects, giving them the intellectual and spiritual respect they deserve. This 1921 collection of brief essays from one of the most respected forefathers of New Age thought covers topics from the sacred to the sublime, shedding new light on mysteries that have challenged mankind for centuries. For any explorer of Being and Thought, Troward here provides invaluable insights into positive psychology, the self, God, beauty, and truth.

Thomas Troward (1847-1916) was an English author whose works influenced the New Thought Movement and mystic Christianity.Troward was a divisional Judge in British-administered India. His avocation was the study of comparative religion. Influences on his thinking, as well as his later writing, included the teachings of Christ, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism. After his retirement from the judiciary in 1896, Troward set out to apply logic and a judicial weighing of evidence in the study of matters of cause and effect. The philosopher William James characterized Troward's Edinburgh Lectures on Mental Science as "far and away the ablest statement of philosophy I have met, beautiful in its sustained clearness of thought and style, a really classic statement."According to Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) archivist Nell Wing, early AA members were strongly encouraged to read Thomas Troward's Edinburgh Lectures on Mental Science. In the opening of the 2006 film The Secret (2006 film), introductory remarks credit Troward's philosophy with inspiring the movie and its production.Troward was a past president of the International New Thought Alliance. In this title Thomas Troward presents a simple theory of evolution and deriving highly optimistic conclusions for the prospective future development of us human beings. The book's message is highly relevant as a counter to the dire apocalyptic prognostications which are currently rife in certain quarters and which, if uncontested, can only depress the human spirit and hinder human progress to ever-higher degrees of enlightenment.
