This book encourages higher education administrators and educators to think in new ways about how to work inclusively with disabled students and examines the way inherent requirements are used in universities to ensure integrity of their academic courses. With the aim of influencing change in higher education policy and practice, the authors explain how inherent requirements, as they are currently deployed, lead to marginalization and discrimination. Moving away from medicalised, deficit-based views, they introduce cutting-edge theories as alternate ways of knowing and engaging with difference in order to advance inclusive higher education policy and practice. This indispensable resource is a key reference for higher education researchers, administrators, and educators.

What does it take to develop and sustain a culture that values marketing, business development, and client care as shared responsibilities across the firm? Drawing on decades of experience advising law firm leaders, chief marketing officers, and partners, Building a Business Development Culture and Strategy provides senior management and practice leaders with actionable strategies for integrating business development into their organization's fabric. Through practical frameworks, candid interviews with firm chairs and CMOs, and real-world examples, the book shows how to empower professionals at every level to contribute to the firm's brand and growth. Not only does it demystify how a strong marketing culture is built – from leadership vision and governance to talent development, systems, and incentives – it helps readers understand how to do this in the context of complex, partnership-based environments. Now more than ever, firms are recognizing that isolated efforts, such as one-off trainings, CRM implementations, or inspirational retreats, won't transform behaviors. What's needed is a holistic approach driven from the top. This book fills that gap by offering managing partners, COOs, CMOs, and practice leaders a blueprint for building marketing cultures that align with firm strategy, reward collaboration, and sustain client loyalty.

The legal profession is undergoing a significant transformation in how legal services are priced. The traditional billable hour model, which has dominated for decades, is increasingly being questioned by clients, firms, and legal professionals alike. The world of legal pricing is evolving rapidly, driven by shifts in client expectations, technological advancements, and new market dynamics. Law firms and legal professionals must adapt to these changes to stay competitive, ensure profitability, and meet the demands of a diverse and increasingly cost-conscious client base. Mastering Legal Pricing: Strategies for Profit, Value, and Innovation explores the evolving landscape of legal pricing, addressing the challenges and opportunities that law firms face in adapting to modern economic demands. From the traditional billable hour to alternative models such as subscription-based services and value-based pricing, this book examines the impact of client expectations, technology, and evolving business strategies. It provides insight into the tools, frameworks, and strategies necessary to create more transparent and efficient pricing models that align with both client needs and law firm profitability.

This book foregrounds the provision of education for young people who have been remanded or sentenced into custody. Both international conventions and national legislation and guidelines in many countries point to the right of children and young people to access education while they are incarcerated. Moreover, education is often seen as an important protective and ‘rehabilitative’ factor. However, the conditions associated with incarceration generate particular challenges for enabling participation in education. Bridging the fields of education and youth justice, this book offers a social justice analysis through the lens of ‘participatory parity’, the book brings together rare interviews with staff and young people in youth justice settings in Australia, secondary data from these sites, a suite of pertinent and frank reports, and international scholarship. Drawing on this rich set of material, the book demonstrates not only the challenges but also the possibilities for education as a conduit for social justice in custodial youth justice. The book will be of immediate relevance to governments and youth justice staff for meaningfully meeting their obligation of enabling children and young people in custody to benefit from education; and of interest to scholars and researchers in education, youth work and criminology.

Why this report, why now? We began 2020 in bright spirits and bountiful economic conditions; by early March all that had changed. Economic adjustments were made and, overall, firms ended the year in much better shape than their spring worst-case projections anticipated. Some firms were even close to their original 2020 profit expectations to date – largely due to quick actions to curtail expenditures as COVID-19 got underway in the US. Adjusting the Numbers: The Future of Finance in Law Firms looks back at a year like no other in our lifetimes, highlighting pricing, budgeting, strategic planning and people management principles, and identifying good compensation practices that can be applied during the pandemic, its gradual cessation, and beyond. Unique selling points: First title to look at financial performance post-COVID, focusing on pricing, compensation, financing, KPIs and partner management.
