A humorous and instructive book on overcoming your fears, increasing your confidence, and having more success in both sales and career satisfaction. As an ADHD child with dyslexia, Tom Stern felt unable to live up to the great expectations set by his very successful grandfather and father; as a result, he suffered from extreme anxiety. Over time, he developed a methodology that increased his confidence and enabled him to achieve success in the entertainment industry, later founding an executive search firm that has sustained excellence for more than a quarter century. It is Tom’s goal to help others achieve success in sales and realize their dreams by overcoming their fears as well. Fear Less, Sell More uses a fictional story, humor, and a conversational approach to making friends with fear. Drawing from Tom’s circuitous career, he shares his unique insights into the psychology behind selling that can bolster the success of any sales professional.

Tom Stern has always been something of a Renaissance man. Living his life moment to moment, reluctant to limit himself, broadening his horizons and enjoying life. Stern's new memoir, Just Lucky I Guess, is a series of short story adventures put into a timeline thereby creating a fascinating and enjoyable book. Stern spent his early childhood on the Jersey Shore, where he got into his share of mischief but also learned important lessons about adulthood. The country went through the Great Depression, but Stern's parents were determined to give their children a decent life. Stern remembers the start of World War II and his father's work as a "spotter" of suspicious planes and ships in the Atlantic. At twenty-two, Stern was invited down to Vero Beach by the Brooklyn Dodgers, got hurt, and was immediately drafted into the Army. Luckily, he was sent to Germany rather than to Korea. While in Germany he decided to pursue a career in showbiz as an actor, which lead to writing, producing, and directing in Hollywood. In a short story format, Stern's book paints a fascinating picture of a life well lived.

The relationship between philosophy and theatre is a central theme in the writings of Plato and Aristotle and of dramatists from Aristophanes to Stoppard. Where Plato argued that playwrights and actors should be banished from the ideal city for their suspect imitations of reality, Aristotle argued that theatre, particularly tragedy, was vital for stimulating our emotions and helping us to understanding ourselves.Despite this rich history the study of philosophy and theatre has been largely overlooked in contemporary philosophy. This is the first book to introduce philosophy and theatre. It covers key topics and debates, presenting the contributions of major figures in the history of philosophy, including: what is theatre? How does theatre compare with other arts?theatre as imitation, including Plato on mimesis truth and illusion in the theatre, including Nietzsche on tragedytheatre as historytheatre and morality, including Rousseau’s criticisms of theatreaudience and emotion, including Aristotle on catharsistheatre and politics, including Brecht’s Epic Theatre.Including annotated further reading and summaries at the end of each chapter, Philosophy and Theatre is an ideal starting point for those studying philosophy, theatre studies and related subjects in the arts and humanities.
