Put Jesus, the risen Jesus, in the middle of your life, your thinking, your living, your work, your pains, your griefs, your anxieties, your hopes, and your fears - put this Jesus in the middle, and work them all around him. Learn to worship him; learn to love him; and learn to live with a new life in his new world' So ends this exhilarating sequence of meditations on the biblical Jesus, and what it means to follow him today. In Part One, 'Looking to Jesus' NT Wright outlines the essential message of six major New Testament books, looking in particular at their portrayal of Jesus - 'the pioneer and perfecter of our faith'- and what he accomplished in his sacrificial death. In Part Two, 'A Living Sacrifice' he takes six key New Testament themes - resurrection, re-birth, temptation, hell, heaven, and new life - and explores their significance for the lives of present-day disciples.

Tom Wright’s fresh, multi-layered and compelling interpretation of Isaiah chapters 40–55 offers a masterclass in understanding how and why God’s promises in the Old Testament came to be fulfilled in Jesus. Throughout, Wright employs a trinitarian hermeneutic, which unfolds the text in three key movements: the original context of Israel’s God as Creator and Covenant-keeper; the early Christian understanding of Jesus as the embodiment of YHWH’s return to his people; and Paul’s Spirit-led vision of the church's role in implementing the new covenant and inaugurating the new creation in the world. Into the Heart of Isaiah is essential reading for all who seek a better understanding of Isaiah’s profound and far-reaching prophecies, and how they fit into God's grand narrative. In Surprised by Hope Tom Wright argued that the authentic Christian hope is not ‘going to heaven’ to enjoy a blissful disembodied immortality, but ‘life after life after death’ in the bodily resurrection which, scripture promises, will be set within the whole new creation. In this new book Wright takes this a big step further, exploring passages in Paul’s letters and in the Hebrew prophets where ‘hope’ refers to the reconciliation and renewal of all creation, and where hope is focused on the belief that Israel’s God, the creator, has promised to fill the whole creation with his glorious and healing presence. Putting things this way round reminds us that the gospel is essentially about grace. As long as we are asking ‘how can I get to heaven’ or ‘how can I become fit to be in God’s presence’ there is always the danger that, however much we stress that God must take the initiative, we end up seeing it as precisely ‘How can I . . . ‘ But if the main movement of the story is God’s desire and intention to come to dwell with us and in us and through us then grace suffuses all that follows. Provisional contents 1 Introduction 2 Filling the earth with glory 3 From Eden to Babylon – and then? 4 The story of Jesus 5 Incarnation 6 The cross and sacrifice 7 The spirit 8 The vision of God in knowing Jesus 9 The sacraments 10 The second coming 11 Church unity as the anticipation of new creation 12 Conclusion

In The Vision of Ephesians Tom Wright takes you on an exciting journey through one of the most profound texts in the New Testament. In just a few powerful pages, Ephesians presents a sweeping panorama of the Christian gospel, tracing God's redemptive plan from the creation of the world to the time when God will be 'all in all'. At its core, the book highlights the transformative work of Jesus the Messiah and the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit. Wright masterfully unpacks Paul's vision of the church - what it is, what it is for, and what it means to be part of the new humanity that God is creating in Jesus. This breath-taking vision of God's purpose for humanity comes into sharper focus when we remember that Paul was writing from prison, urging his readers to engage in spiritual warfare, standing firm in the victory won on the cross as that victory unfolds across the world. The Vision of Ephesians is a must-read for anyone seeking to grasp the depth and beauty of one of the New Testament's most captivating letters.

This book offers a brief, clear and incisive introduction to the Acts of the Apostles. Acts is a substantial book, sitting right in the middle of the New Testament, looking back to the four Gospels and on to the mission of the early churches. It provides a framework for our understanding of the New Testament letters. It also shows us what it means to think of the gospel of Jesus, Israel's Messiah, going out into the world over which Israel's Messiah claims the status of Lord. Tom Wright explains how this meant confronting the wider culture of the Greek and Roman world, as well as the culture of the Jewish world. All of this is to be found in Acts, providing much food for thought as we ourselves face new questions about gospel and culture in our own day. Contents 1 Acts 1.1-11: To the Ends of the Earth! 2 Acts 1-4: The New Temple 3 Acts 5-8: Mission and Martyrdom 4 Acts 9-12: Breaking Through the Gentile Barrier 5 Acts 13-16: Converts and Controversy 6 Acts 17-20: Completing the Circle 7 Acts 17.16-34: The Unknown God? 8 Acts 21-24: Trouble in Jerusalem 9 Acts 25-28: And So to Rome
