Approved for use in various countries, SDF consists of two key components: silver, renowned for its antibacterial properties, and fluoride, which aids in remineralizing tooth enamel. This combination not only targets existing cavities but also helps to strengthen teeth, making it a valuable tool in both restorative and preventive dentistry.

Sugar, a simple carbohydrate, provides a rapid energy boost but is linked to health issues like obesity, diabetes, and dental caries. Sucrose, in particular, promotes tooth decay by fostering plaque buildup and acid production by bacteria. Sugar substitutes, both artificial (e.g., aspartame) and natural (e.g., stevia), offer sweetening alternatives with fewer calories, reducing the risk of cavities and weight gain. It is the duty of paediatric dentist to unleash any barriers that stops these patients from utilizing the benefits of dental treatment by being accessible, to treating dental patients in hospital setups when needed; a paediatric dentist requires to expand his/her reach towards the disabled children. These children are not greatly different from the normal patients but demand a different approach for treatment along with love and affection.
