At the turn of the 20th century New Thought proponents sought to use mysticism to unleash the forces of the universe in themselves. WILLIAM WALKER ATKINSON was one of the most influential thinkers of this early "New Age" philosophy. He promises in this book: - To show you how to cultivate memory in such a way as to improve your entire life - His method is not geared to mere recollection of facts - To teach a holistically "correct seeing, thinking, and remembering - His method trains the eye as well as the ear to improve your ability to recall names, faces, numbers, music, facts, and much more - To show how important the function of the mind is that has to do with the retention of mental impressions - Why the recall of faces, names, facts, events, and circumstances is the measure of one's ability to accomplish anything "In the higher activities of thought, the memory comes as an invaluable aid to the individual in marshalling the bits of knowledge he may have acquired and passing them in review before his cognitive faculties--thus does the soul review its mental possessions." --William Walker Atkinson

Atkinsons' "Mind and Body" is a fine little medical work from the dawn of the 20th century. It speaks at length of faith healing, mesmerism, suggestion, hypnotism (strictly speaking in a medical setting) and the various healing rites of antiquity. It is full of secondary references and lengthy quotes and proposes the use of suggestion in varied therapeutic settings; some of which are still considered useful to this day.

The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars.Western literary study flows out of eighteenth-century works by Alexander Pope, Daniel Defoe, Henry Fielding, Frances Burney, Denis Diderot, Johann Gottfried Herder, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, and others. Experience the birth of the modern novel, or compare the development of language using dictionaries and grammar discourses. ++++The below data was compiled from various identification fields in the bibliographic record of this title. The 'Spiritual Death' of Jesus

The 'Spiritual Death' of Jesus

Winner of the Award of Excellence of the Foundation for Pentecostal Scholarship 2010. The teaching of Kenyon, Hagin and Copeland that Jesus ‘died spiritually’ (JDS) is important because of the influence of these men, not least on Pentecostalism. JDS originated with Kenyon, and has been taught in the Word-faith movement by Hagin and Copeland, despite much criticism. It incorporates three elements: in this death, Jesus was separated from God; partook of a satanic nature; and was Satan’s prey. This theological appraisal takes research far further than previous works, both in method and in scope. It concludes that adoption of JDS by Pentecostalism would be damaging in several respects, and thus draw the latter away from its moorings in traditional Christianity. Pentecostals and others are advised to reject the bulk of this teaching.
