Exciting new evidence from the USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University has demonstrated that the body's decline is due "not" to the passing of years but to the combined effects of inactivity, poor nutrition, and illness -- much of which can be controlled. This breakthrough study shows that regardless of your age or present physical condition, the aging process can be slowed -- or even reversed The authors have identified ten "biomarkers," the key physiological factors associated with prolonged youth and vitality: * lean body (muscle) mass * strength * basal metabolic rate * body fat percentage * aerobic capacity * blood pressure * Insulin sensitivity * cholesterol/HDL ratio * bone density * body temperature regulation With only 50 minutes a day of aerobic exercise and strength training (a pivotal component of the 16-week Bioaction Plan), even middle-aged "couch potatoes" and older adults can: * regain muscle loss and increase strength by as much as 200 percent * reenergize the body and actually lose body fat * increase aerobic capacity by up to 20 percent * reduce the chances of developing age-related conditions such as heart disease, Type II diabetes, and osteoporosis Providing dietary guidelines, self-tests for evaluating your physiological age, and exercise programs for every level of fitness, "Biomarkers" will change forever the way you think -- and what you do -- about aging.

This practical book supplies ministers, theological students, and laymen called upon to preach with a helpful tool for their ministries. Rather than being an attempt at a complete and exhaustive treatment of homiletics, it is a clearly outlined guide written in a conversational tone. It is useful for study, selection of sermon texts and themes, and sermon building.Dr. William Evans has drawn upon extensive education and years of experience as a pastor, preacher, and Bible instructor to produce a guidebook that is personal and easily understood. After establishing definitions of terms under consideration, he examines the value of the personality of the preacher, the voice and interpretation of the text and theme, and the gathering and arranging of sermonic materials employed. He then gives close attention to the introduction, body, and conclusion; various types of sermons; and the use and abuse of illustrations. A concluding section contains sermon outlines which illustrate the material of the preceding pages.

The Great Doctrines of the Bible is William Evans' account of the Bible's teachings, lauded for its clarity of tone, accuracy and close quotation of the Biblical scriptures.A superb companion to Bible studies or for general reference, William Evans offers readers clear and well-written explanations of Biblical doctrines. Each major tenet of the Christian doctrine receives a chapter, allowing the reader to distinguish, understand, and receive clarity from each component of the faith. Long featured in Bible colleges and religious studies courses, William Evans' excellent book is populated by direct quotations of scripture that support each point made. Not only are we given a simple overview of the doctrines, we also receive an in-depth, point by point examination of the finer aspects, that we know what each entails for believers. Through this superb resource, the reader is imbued with a fluent comprehension of the Christian religion. The words of God, Jesus, the idea of salvation for man, and the doctrines of the angels and of Satan as the enemy of mankind, are all detailed. In terms of tone, the book rarely strays to dryness - instead, the text is accessible and written in plain English for all to comprehend. William Evans spent most of his life teaching others about Christianity. Born in Liverpool, England, he emigrated to the United States whilst still a teenager, arriving in New York City. Although his writing talents allowed him to command a good salary as a journalist, he experienced a divine revelation which encouraged him to take up Bible studies in Chicago. He went on to a distinguished career as an educator and author, with over fifty books to his name. He died in California in 1950, aged eighty.
