Anne Bronte, an English novelist, published her first book, Agnes Grey, in 1847. (writing under the pen name of ""Acton Bell""). Agnes Grey is upset that she is treated like a kid by everyone. She finally secures a position with the Bloomfield family as a governess. Agnes had no idea that the Bloomfields would be as wealthy and vicious as they are. The eldest Bloomfield child, Tom, is very cruel and has even tortured small animals. Agnes starts by going to see Nancy Brown, a frail elderly woman who needs assistance reading the Bible. When she first meets Mr. Edward Weston, the new curate, he chooses some wild primroses for her. Agnes receives a note from Mary, who is now wed to Mr. Richardson, the clergyman of a parish close to their house. Mary is Agnes' sister. Mary begs Agnes to come and informs her that their father is dying. When Agnes finally arrives, her father is already dead. She departs from Ashby Park and goes back home. She meets Mr. Weston a few months after she first comes; he had been seeking her ever since he moved to the neighborhood parsonage. They had three kids together after he makes the marriage proposal.
"He had not breathed a word of love, or dropped one hint of tenderness or affection, and yet I had been supremely happy. To be near him, to hear him talk as he did talk, and to feel that he thought me worthy to be so spoken to - capable of understanding and duly appreciating such discourse - was enough." ― Anne Bront , Agnes Grey Agnes Grey (1847) by Anne Bront recounts the story of a kindhearted and determined girl Agnes Grey, born to a clergyman Mr. Grey. Mr. Grey loses his fortune when the man, whom he sends to invest his money, dies at sea. As a result, Agnes decides to become a governess to help the monetary condition of the family. Unhappy with troublesome employers and children who are unmanageable, Agnes meets Mr. Weston, whose appearance plants a romantic seed in her life only to make her life better.
The second and final book written by English author Anne Bronte is The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. Under the alias Acton Bell, it was first printed in 1848. It had an instant and amazing success and was arguably the most upsetting of the Bronte sisters' books, but following Anne's passing, her sister Charlotte stopped its re-publication in England until 1854. The story is told through a series of letters that Gilbert Markham writes to a friend about the encounter with a mysterious young widow who goes by the name of Helen Graham and shows up at Wildfell Hall, an abandoned Elizabethan manor, with her small son and a servant. In contrast to early 19th-century customs, she pursues a profession as an artist and earns money by selling her paintings. She quickly becomes a social outcast as a result of her severe seclusion, which quickly sparks rumors in the nearby town. Gilbert befriends her and learns about her past after refusing to believe anything controversial about her. She documents her husband's physical and spiritual decline caused by alcohol and vice in the disintegrating aristocratic society in the diary she gives Gilbert. She ultimately takes her son with her, whom she is desperate to protect from his father's influence.
