Heinrich Hoffmanns Struwwelpeter war 1844 als Geschenk für den Sohn Carl entstanden; der Tochter Caroline schenkte er im Sommer 1862 ein kleines Büchlein, in das er einige Lieblingsrezepte der Familie notiert hatte. Lina fügte nach und nach noch andere hinzu. Viele davon, vor allem die Süßspeisen, sind in der Hoffmann-Familie bis heute beliebt.
