This is a unique book, drawing together the profound insights of Eastern philosophy (Advaita Vedanta), Western depth-psychology (Jungian), and spirituality (Ignatian) as applied to decision-making. Mention is made of Plato, C. G. Jung, Ira Progoff, Viktor Frankl, and Bernard Lonergan, amongst others. Powerful and practical tools and techniques for making wise decisions are offered. There are sections on Descartes's famous square, the ego and the Self, the I Ching and synchronicity, archetypes, neuroscience and the triune brain, biases and blind spots which can derail decision-making, together with chapters on creativity, the aha experience, and the Enneagram with its nine decision-making styles. Dr. Costello is at pains to point out that heart (emotions), head (reason), and hands (action/doing) must be integrated before effective decision-making can take place and bear fruition.

Slim's Burma Boys

Slim's Burma Boys

John Hill

The History Press Ltd

Slim's Burma Boys relates the personal experiences of men who fought the "Forgotten War" of the Burma campaign. Hill wanted his readers to know what it was like to be there and with this in mind he selected a variety of operations and events from B Company of the 2nd Battalion, the Royal Berkshire Regiment, which he commanded. He was one of the only men to survive the border crossing into Burma. The Company earned two Military Crosses, a Distinguished Conduct Medal, four Military Medals, and a mention in Despatches. Hill conveys the intensity of involvement in the action, experiencing the adrenaline rush as well as the fear and courage of those who took part in swollen river crossings, patrols, ambushes, skirmishes and major actions against a ruthless and determined enemy who would never surrender. His memoir is of general interest as well as a fitting memoir to his men and should be prescribed reading for all would-be officers and soldiers.
Peter's Epistles - Letters to the Scattered Saints
It had been several years since Peter had delivered God's message at Pentecost. The audience had come from all over the world. There was nothing novel in the message ? it consisted of things any good Jewish person would have known from their childhood. The difference was that this message was accompanied by the power of God's Spirit. After our Lord's ascension into heaven (Acts 1.11), Peter labored for his Savior tirelessly to the point of death. He understood well the urgency of the times and he desired to pass that along to as many believers as possible. These two epistles show Peter's efforts in stirring up those who had been stirred up at Pentecost ? at the birth of the Body of Christ.
