A household name, Christian Aid is the relief and development agency of 41 sponsoring churches in the UK. Justice Song explores the organisation's rich history through a series of thematic chapters, interspersed with brief accounts of Christian Aid's involvement with different countries around the world. Its groundbreaking work dates back to 1945, when it was founded by British and Irish churches to help refugees following World War II. For 80 years, the organisation has provided humanitarian relief and long-term development support for poor communities across the globe, while highlighting suffering, tackling injustice and championing people's rights. Sir Robert Birley once wrote of Christian Aid's founding Director, Janet Lacey CBE: 'Bureaucracy [...] collapsed at her approach; no one ever broke more rules.' The book will capture the spirit of dissent and innovation which marks both Christian Aid's beginnings and its work today. From campaigns which took on the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, to the founding role it played in the Voluntary Service Overseas, Disasters Emergency Committee and Fairtrade Foundation, Christian Aid has consistently driven change. It helped set up the World Development Movement to encourage political campaigning, advised Martin Luther King while he was travelling in the UK, and counted the likes of Bishop Oscar Romero amongst its partners. While it covers the pivotal moments in Christian Aid's history, Justice Song also includes the voices and personal stories of those who have both worked for and been impacted by the organisation's work over the years.
Impossible Monsters: Dinosaurs, Darwin, and the Battle Between Science and Religion
When the twelve-year-old daughter of a British carpenter pulled some strange-looking bones from the country's southern shoreline in 1811, few people dared to question that the Bible told the accurate history of the world. But Mary Anning had in fact discovered the "first" ichthyosaur, and over the next seventy-five years--as the science of paleontology developed, as Charles Darwin posited radical new theories of evolutionary biology, and as scholars began to identify the internal inconsistencies of the Scriptures--everything changed. Beginning with the archbishop who dated the creation of the world to 6 p.m. on October 22, 4004 BC, and told through the lives of the nineteenth-century men and women who found and argued about these seemingly impossible, history-rewriting fossils, Impossible Monsters reveals the central role of dinosaurs and their discovery in toppling traditional religious authority, and in changing perceptions about the Bible, history, and mankind's place in the world.

Impossible Monsters is the captivating story of the discovery of the dinosaurs and how it upended our understanding of the origins of the world.‘An astonishing book about an extraordinary subject' PETER FRANKOPAN'As thrilling as it is sweeping' TOM HOLLAND'This book dazzles in its originality . . . a triumph’ SATHNAM SANGHERASHORTLISTED FOR THE DUFF COOPER PRIZE 2025In 1811, a twelve-year-old girl uncovered some strange-looking bones in Britain’s southern shoreline - and so sparked a crisis that would engulf science and religion for the next six decades. By its end, the literal reading of the Bible had been overturned, science had been liberated from religion and the secular age had begun. Impossible Monsters takes us into the lives and minds of the extraordinary men and women whose discovery of the dinosaurs revolutionised our understanding of the world, as well as those who resisted them and those, like Charles Darwin, who took great risks to construct a new account of the earth’s and mankind’s origins. It is the riveting story of a group of people who dared to think impossible things and then showed them to be true.‘Truly marvellous ... an intellectual thriller’ RICHARD HOLMES‘A stunning work ... of surprises and revelations’ STEVE BRUSATTE

The core of this monograph is the development of tools to derive well-posedness results in very general geometric settings for elliptic differential operators. A new generation of Calderón-Zygmund theory is developed for variable coefficient singular integral operators, which turns out to be particularly versatile in dealing with boundary value problems for the Hodge-Laplacian on uniformly rectifiable subdomains of Riemannian manifolds via boundary layer methods. In addition to absolute and relative boundary conditions for differential forms, this monograph treats the Hodge-Laplacian equipped with classical Dirichlet, Neumann, Transmission, Poincaré, and Robin boundary conditions in regular Semmes-Kenig-Toro domains. The 1-st edition of the “Hodge-Laplacian”, De Gruyter Studies in Mathematics,Volume 64, 2016, is a trailblazer of its kind, having been written at a time when new results in Geometric Measure Theory have just emerged, or were still being developed. In particular, this monograph is heavily reliant on the bibliographical items. The latter was at the time an unpublished manuscript which eventually developed into the five-volume series “Geometric Harmonic Analysis” published by Springer 2022-2023. The progress registered on this occasion greatly impacts the contents of the “Hodge-Laplacian” and warrants revisiting this monograph in order to significantly sharpen and expand on previous results. This also allows us to provide specific bibliographical references to external work invoked in the new edition.Lying at the intersection of partial differential equations, harmonic analysis, and differential geometry, this text is suitable for a wide range of PhD students, researchers, and professionals.

Empty Pillows: Healing Matters of the Heart, Trilogy I (Empty Pillows) series is about Men and Women looking at the choices they make when it comes to relationships. Empty Pillows is not about pointing fingers at one's love interest, but rather looking at one's own decision-making skills. Empty Pillows focuses on why we allow bad people into our lives and blame them when the relationship goes bad. Empty Pillows helps people to look strongly at themselves. Readers have summed-up Empty Pillows to be a therapeutic book, a self-help book, an introspective book, a thought-provoking book, a step-bystep book; not a man bashing or a woman bashing book. Additionally, Empty Pillows is about being the right individual for the right individual. No man or woman can be the right one for the wrong person. If he or she is wrong for you, then you are wrong for them too.
