This story is about 3 lives; a young boy raised in the outback, the son of a property owner and a young son of a rodeo woman. Each of their lives combines both in romance and destiny. It tells of their fight to survive the harsh conditions of the Australian outback and how they fight the elements to find a life for themselves.Jack was born in the outback to a stockman on a large property in Queensland's Channel Country. As the drought takes effect, his father is put off and they struggle to live as jobs are scarce in Windorah where they decide to live. Jack's father is killed in a terrible accident and Jack is forced to leave his mother and head towards the city looking for work. He finds temporary work as a fruit picker and a new lifestyle but also finds a wife and starts his own family. But he is a country boy at heart and eventually he convinces his wife to return to the property where he grew up.David is the son of the property owner. He feels the isolation of a vast property and needs to leave to find his own life and a partner to share that life. He travels to the USA and to Palm Springs to see a rodeo and finds Josephine; a rodeo rider and falls in love. She has a son only 3 years his junior and she is 14 years his elder, but they become constant companions and David manages to talk Joe into going to Australia for the Christmas period with him; but she won't go without Joey her son and his boyfriend Harry, so David agrees.Joey was 15 years old when David came into his life as a prospective father. He liked David but more because he made his mother feel good and happy. They travel the circuit together for a couple of months before agreeing to head to Australia for the Christmas period; a time of inactivity for the rodeo circuit. Harry returns to America after a few weeks but Joey enjoys the lifestyle of a fence rider and meets the man of his dreams. There is some gay content in this story; but what story these days does not include some gay content. It is a novel of 3 romances and how each romance depends on the other for support and guidance.

We are born; we live, and we die. For all of us this is the norm, but for some, death comes sooner than expected. Some die from natural causes; some from accidental death and some through the hand of others. This story deals with the hand of others; by assassins, hired by those who are greedy; those with a grudge; those who just want to get rid of a competitor or a partner who has outlived their usefulness. There is always someone willing to give death to those who pay the right price. To be a good assassin you must be invisible to all around you; skilled in the art of death and untraceable by the laws of a country or the world. To be able to travel and not be discovered as to your real identity. We have all seen spy thrillers where the Secret Service operatives from many countries appear to kill with impunity; but for a freelance killer, there is no protection from a government or support of an organization; you are on your own. How does a normal person become a secret assassin? How does anyone become who they are; a doctor, dentist, gardener, road sweeper or tradesman? Is it the lure of fast money or the lure of excitement; the thrill of the chase or thrill of death? If I could tell you the answer to that question, then I would be wanted by every criminal investigation unit throughout the world; but I cannot answer what is in the mind of another. Many have tried and some have even got very close but the criminal mind is as complex as any mind in this world. One has to understand what drives this type of mind so you can try and predict an outcome.Assassins do not advertise in the local press or on radio or TV; they are deep in the shadows and are contacted through various means; without a name ever being used. Do they have a life of their own or do they put their life on hold for a set time so they can accumulate wealth before retiring from the game? Our assassin has been operating for many years and is wanted in several countries for murder; but as yet, the police forces in those countries have no idea who he or she is; what they look like or even what gender they are; they kill; yet are non entities; they just don't exist. As for their victims; the assassin does not know them nor wants to. Their job is to terminate their life and they never ask the reason why; it is none of their business. Their job is to complete the contract as requested; to be The Hand that Serves.

The Detective O'Neil Murder Mysteries are a passion of Phillips. Jack in the box is the fourth in the series and is about the deaths of several motor cyclists in the late 60's and early 70's but the killer was never caught. Similar deaths appeared 30 years later and O'Neil and his brilliant assistant, Myers, are requested to assist in the investigations. The story twists and turns as confusion sets in from sources sent to kill and put blame on innocent others and it takes O'Neil and Myers time to sort the chaff from the wheat.

Man; as a species of animal life, sees itself as the dominator of Earth; the animal that walked on all fours to first stand on two legs and walk out of Africa. Humanoid man then dominated the land, animals and also the seas. It happened many millions of years ago during man's early development and although other humanoids walked the earth such as the Homo Habillis through to Neanderthals and to our current form; Homo Sapiens. Homo Sapiens were first thought to have walked out of Africa about 315,000 years ago; but what is to say that other bipedal forms did not form on Earth and followed a separate path? If they did not develop from the Ape family, where did their ancestral lives begin? This book deals with an alternate form of bipedal life form; deep within the Earth's crust; in a dim dark world where man who lives on the surface has no right to exist; yet does as his escape is blocked by nature's own forces.Richard and his fianc e Susan decide to explore the United States; a country both had always wanted to visit and the offer of a study grant to the University of Hawaii for the study of Vulcanology, Geology and Geophysics for Richard was a dream come true. Susan was able to get a grant to study Petrology as a subject towards her degree in Mining Engineering and Geophysics. Both were excited to be heading to the USA and both said farewell to their families at the airport before they boarded their Air New Zealand flight. It was a 14 hour flight with a stopover and connecting flight in Auckland. Richard was looking forward to finally seeing an active volcano; although he had visited New Zealand several times to visit the many geological sites spread throughout New Zealand and still active; but not an actual volcano and he could barely contain his excitement.

Sixty-five million years ago, the last of the non-avian dinosaurs went extinct. So too did the giant mosasaurs and plesiosaurs in the seas and the pterosaurs in the skies. Plankton, the base of the ocean food chain, took a hard hit. Many families of brachiopods and sea sponges disappeared. The remaining hard-shelled ammonites vanished. Shark diversity shriveled. Most vegetation withered. In all, more than half of the world's species were obliterated. The cause of the mass extinction that marks the end of the Cretaceous (140 million to 65 million years ago) and the beginning of the Palaeogene (65 million to 45 million years ago) is a scientific mystery. The extinction wiped out the dinosaurs while most mammals, turtles, crocodiles, salamanders, and frogs survived. Birds escaped. So did snails, bivalves (oysters, muscles and scallops), sea stars (starfish), and sea urchins. Even hardy plants able to weather climate extremes fared okay.Scientists tend to huddle around one of two hypotheses that may explain the Cretaceous extinction: an extraterrestrial impact, such as an asteroid or comet, or a massive bout of volcanism. Either scenario would have choked the skies with debris that starved the Earth of the sun's energy, throwing a wrench in photosynthesis and sending destruction up and down the food chain. Once the dust settled, greenhouse gases locked in the atmosphere would have caused the temperature to soar, a swift climate swing to topple much of the life that survived the prolonged darkness. The Reptilians had been defeated more than 65 million years ago when they attempted to settle on Earth. The Mandarinni had defeated them on previous occasions and destroyed them; but their technology continued to progress and they scoured the universe for human colonies. 65 million years before the birth of Christ, a meteor crashed through the atmosphere and more than half of the then known species perished. The Mandarinni had started to colonize Earth over 100 million years BC and were in constant battle against the Reptilian forces. The Mandarinni accepted the volcanic conditions of Earth and knew of its possible turbulent nature. The Reptilians had found a planet that served their every need; vast oceans, tropical rain-forests, and vast grass plains. As the Earth developed, they adapted to their surroundings; adapting to their food sources and climate. The Mandarinni had fought the Reptilians on more than one occasion in the far reaches of the universe and had almost been defeated; but went underground and survived. They built their technology to the point where they could once again rid the universe of the scourge of the Reptilians and sought them out. They caught the Reptilians off guard and destroyed their vast fleet; but in doing so, also destroyed the control of their settlements; including Earth. Those Reptilians that remained on Earth had none of the former control as fighters and colonists, and their culture and unity began to break down. They turned on each other and were destroying Earth and its natural development. The Mandarinni colony on Earth suffered because of this rampant destruction and the Supreme Council on Murinottii in the star system of Magmotii, met to decide what they had to do to defeat the Reptilians and return Earth to their people. Many suggestions were offered but one of their junior generals offered a solution of such magnitude, the council laughed; until one of their scientists shouted from the balcony."He is right; our forces cannot defeat them for we are too week; let nature and the forces of the stars do what we cannot."

The history of this Planet Earth is littered with great men and their past feets. But were they from Earth or from advanced civilisations from across the Universe? This story takes history and its great men of action and proposes a different story of their lives; takes their beginnings to a new life form made to inhabit peacefully with existing man of the time. Ancient civilizations show rock carvings and early painting of men in space suits; does that give credence to this fictional story? Can early man coexist with technology far superior to its own? Who did build Khufu's pyramid and the pyramids of ancient Mayan temples?

This book is a guide for young and not so young men who are undecided about their sexuality. It is not a reference book nor a scientific study and must not be considered as such. It is the thoughts and guidance of a gay man to those who are undecided as to whether they are gay or not and does not try and influence your thoughts into being gay; more, it is a guide to what it is to be gay and leaves the decision to you and only you.

Sometimes life can take a turn you least expect; as it did for me in the summer of 1988; the weather was warm and sunny. I was spending the day at the beach at Wolfe's Pond Park in Lower Manhattan, just lying around soaking up the sun when I decided I needed a drink. This was the first time I had been to Wolfe's Pond Park, and had no idea where to buy a drink. I started to move up the beach towards the shops to look for a bar when I saw a young guy struggling to breathe and blood pouring from his mouth. I raced over and saw his throat had been cut and a knife lying next to him. I stupidly picked up the knife and saw blood on it, threw it back down and then tried to stop the flow of blood from the man's neck; but to no avail, and he died in my arms before the police and ambulance arrived. Many people had gathered around me and when the police arrived, they; the people standing around, said they had seen me cut the man's throat. The police immediately cuffed me and led me away with me protesting violently; so much that one policeman coshed me over the head to quiet me down. I lay inside the police car in a daze still trying to understand what had happened. I was just an innocent bystander yet accused of murder. How could this happen to me? I just wanted to buy a drink and found this guy bleeding on the beach but end up accused of his murder. It was quite a while before the police drove me to the station and led me down to the cells. I was still in my swimming costume and had no other clothing. The cells were cold and open bars with no walls. I could see others incarcerated inside the cells and I was scared. Some were drunk; others tattooed from ear to ear and some women I assumed to be prostitutes. I will not say my life was as clean as a new born baby; far from it. I had been in trouble with the police as a youth and had spent time at Juvenile hall for stealing cars, but nothing heavy. I was now 19 years old and had kept my nose clean for over a year. I knew what was to happen; the questioning, body and cavity search, clothed in prisoner clothing to await a decision as to whether I was to be released or charged; but I had done nothing illegal so why was I here in this cell? I was finally taken from the cell and to an interview room. I refused to say anything until the court appointed a lawyer to defend me. I didn't have any money to hire a lawyer as I worked as a construction labourer and earned little money. I lived in a bedsitter in the Bronx and worked in Manhattan on whatever construction job I could find. As a labourer, I got the lowest pay and barely had enough to pay the rent and feed myself some weeks. It all depended on the weather as to if I worked. My education was poor as I played hooky most of the time and my mother worked most nights so homework never got done. I used to go to the local pool hall when mum was working and that's how I got into the wrong crowd and we stole a car to joy ride in and smashed into a lamp stand. I was injured and could not get out of the car; so got caught, but never dubbed the others in so I took the rap. One thing I learnt on the streets; never dub in your mates. I was kept in cells for over 12 hours before a lawyer came to interview me and then we entered an interview room and the questioning began. Somehow I had to convince the detectives I was innocent. Somehow I had to get out of here.

My lawyer was an inexperienced newly qualified boy of 28 years old and a junior partner to a Manhattan Law firm. I doubted his ability but his questioning of the witnesses showed many anomalies and I was released; but that was only the start of my problems. The Italian family who had organized the murder then went after me and my family.
